Why windshields are important (images not suitable for children or the squeamish)

On way back from the Big Bend National Park on the 118 going towards Alpine, at about 8pm when the sun was disappearing on the horizon, I just saw this black shape coming towards me.

Then I heard the impact and got sprayed with blood ...

Lucky I had the Touratech windshield extender, otherwise I would have it inside my helmet as I was enjoying the breeze with my visor down.

On way to El Paso, TX

Today we are sleeping in El Paso as tomorrow morning we will cross into Ciudad de Juarez and have lunch in Mexico.

Looking forward to pick up a Mexican sticker ;-)

View from McDonalds Observatory

Today (Saturday) went for a scenic drive around the Observatory Loop.

Got some good pics as weather was great.

Skyline drive

With 3 switchbacks there is a great view on the Skyline Drive just up the mountain on the Fort Davis State Park.

On the Indian Lodge trail

Just outside our room there is an entrance to the Indian Lodge Trail so before packing and leaving we decided to take a short hike up the mountain.
